But, here's the rules anyway...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;[1.] &lt;span style="color: rgb(51, 255, 51);"&gt;W h a t  i s  R i v a l ?&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Rival is a hex-based strategical wargame with a focus on tactics, set in the feudal period of Japan.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Take control of your own warring clan and destroy the opposition!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;[2.] &lt;span style="color: rgb(51, 255, 51);"&gt;S e t u p  a n d  O b j e c t i v e s &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;[Objective]: The objective of the game is to cripple your adversaries' fighting force by one of three ways:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Win Condition 1:  Kill your opponent's Shogun.&lt;br /&gt;Win Condition 2:  Kill all 3 of your opponent's Samurai.&lt;br /&gt;Win Condition 3:  Kill all 6 of your opponent's Ashigaru.&lt;br /&gt;Killing Ninja does not cause a game loss.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;[Setup]&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;At the beginning of the game, each player places a total of 10 pieces on his 'territory' of the Hex Board. Territory is marked by the heavy black Lines separating sections of the board.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Each player places:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1 Shogun&lt;br /&gt;3 Samurai&lt;br /&gt;6 Ashigaru&lt;br /&gt;1 Ninja [ See Special 'Sneaky Ninja' Ruleset, below ]&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;GAMEPLAY:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Each turn, players alternate moving 2 pieces of theirs according to their normal move restrictions. Gameplay continues until a player satisfies one of the three win conditions listed above.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Killing pieces works exactly as Capturing in chess, only with restrictions according to what type of troop is attempting to kill what.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;[3.] &lt;span style="color: rgb(51, 255, 51);"&gt;S u r v e y  T h e  T r o o p s&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="color: rgb(255, 0, 0);"&gt;Shogun:&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The leader-figure of your fighting force. Although adept in combat, the Shogun is very valuable and, if killed, will surely result in a loss.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Stats:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="color: rgb(255, 0, 0);"&gt;Shogun&lt;/span&gt; Kills all troop Types&lt;br /&gt;Moves 1 space 2 turn in any directions you choose.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;----&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="color: rgb(51, 204, 0);"&gt;Samurai:&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The core of your army. Samurai are absolutely needed if victory is a desired outcome. Very skilled in combat and endurance, but very weak to Ninja.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Stats:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="color: rgb(51, 204, 0);"&gt;Samurai&lt;/span&gt; Kill &lt;span style="color: rgb(51, 51, 255);"&gt;Ashigaru.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="color: rgb(51, 204, 0);"&gt;Samurai&lt;/span&gt; Kill &lt;span style="color: rgb(255, 0, 0);"&gt;Shogun.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="color: rgb(51, 204, 0);"&gt;Samurai &lt;span style="color: rgb(255, 255, 255);"&gt;Kill &lt;span style="color: rgb(51, 204, 0);"&gt;Samurai&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="color: rgb(51, 204, 0);"&gt;Samurai&lt;/span&gt; move 2 spaces a turn in any directions you choose.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;----&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="color: rgb(51, 51, 255);"&gt;Ashigaru:&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Lightly armored massed foot troops. Even very weak, the Ashigaru provide a crucial troop mass needed for numerical superiority. Ashigaru are very weak to Samurai, but very adept at hunting and killing Ninja.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Stats:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="color: rgb(51, 51, 255);"&gt;Ashigaru &lt;/span&gt;Kill &lt;span style="color: rgb(51, 51, 255);"&gt;Ashigaru&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="color: rgb(51, 51, 255);"&gt;Ashigaru&lt;/span&gt; Kill&lt;span style="color: rgb(153, 153, 153);"&gt; &lt;span style="color: rgb(255, 255, 255);"&gt;Ninja&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="color: rgb(51, 51, 255);"&gt;Ashigaru&lt;/span&gt; Kill &lt;span style="color: rgb(255, 0, 0);"&gt;Shogun&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Moves 2 spaces in any directions you choose.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;----&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ninja:&lt;br /&gt;Assassins that rely on the arts of deception and misdirection. Ninja have been trained to hunt and kill various artisans and bureaucrats, and notably, Samurai. Although deadly to Samurai and Shogun, Ninja do not possess the means to combat large amounts of troops at once.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Stats:&lt;br /&gt;Ninja Kill &lt;span style="color: rgb(255, 0, 0);"&gt;Shogun&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ninja Kill &lt;span style="color: rgb(51, 204, 0);"&gt;Samurai&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ninja move 2 spaces a turn in any direction you choose.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Sneak Attack!: Ninja are unique in that they are placed differently than the other troops at the beginning of the game. Each Hex has a distinct coordinate on the game board. Secretly choose one of these at the beginning of the game, and write it down somewhere for proof.&lt;br /&gt;Your ninja counts as 'hiding' on that space and, if an enemy unit ends the turn in that space, you MUST reveal the ninja and then kill the enemy unit [regardless of what type it is].
